|SPVA music festival at St. Pat’s|
|by Joe Chitwood (The North Platte Bulletin) - 3/23/2016|
The halls were alive with music Tuesday as more than 350 musicians and singers from seven schools converged on St. Pat’s High School at the Southern Platte Valley Association Music Festival.
Each performer or group received a superior (1), excellent (2) or good (3) rating.
SPVA coaches said judge’s comments as well as grades help to prepare performers for district music competition by identifying needed improvements as well as recognizing good performances.
Hershey, St. Pat’s and Sutherland were well represented, with a host of talented singers and instrumental musicians.
SPVA members Bridgeport, Chase County, Kimball and Perkins County also brought busloads of performers.
Hershey Instrumental Music Director Lori Evans and Vocal Music Director Ellen said the competition helps students improve their skills and gain confidence.
District music competition will be held April 22 at various locations.
In addition to the individual ratings, judges select the best performance in each category and recognize them as best in the conference.
